Both the New Israel Fund and the V15 organization are calling on Likud to retract statements that they are engaging in illegal activities and activities to oust Likud from office. V15 went as far as to file a police complaint for incitement against Likud.
V15’s complaint involves a portion of the Likud election video “The NGO affair 2015,” which features a kafiye-clad illustration making the V for victory sign next to the number 15 in blood-red. Organization founders Itamar Weizman and Nimrod Dweck insist that remain non-partisan despite Likud claims to the contrary.
Likud is claiming that the New Israel Fund is involved with V15 towards toppling the Netanyahu-led administration. New Israel Fund officials continue to deny the allegations, insisting they have never been involved in political activity or V15.
The young branch of Likud on Wednesday, 15 Shevat took to the social networks and began posting instructions how to file a complaint against the New Israel Fund with the American Internal Revenue Service since the fund operates as a non-profit. Organizers of the effort report hundreds of visitors to their pages have used the forms made available and filed complaints with the IRS.
Likud alleges that V15 has received funds from US President Obama and European nations, all towards replacing the current administration with Yitzchak Herzog and Tzipi Livni.
The Israel Fund has been accused of similar activities over the years, and some right-wing coalition officials during the past years have called for halting government aid to groups such as B’Tselem, who they feel work to undermine the position of the Government of Israel in the international arena towards promoting their extremist left-wing agendas.
Minister of the Economy Naftali Bennett recently boycotted a scheduled appearance at the Haaretz Conference, explaining he cannot be part of a forum that hosts the New Israel Fund, which he accuses of working against the interests of IDF soldiers.
