With elections about 40 days away, pollsters continue to release their predictions but no one knows with certainty how the election will turnout. However, Shas party leader Aryeh Deri has announced that he is setting his sights on his old position, the Ministry of the Interior, the ministry that he ran at the height of political career prior to his resignation and criminal conviction. Deri has stated that he wishes to regain control of the Interior Ministry if Shas enters a coalition government following elections. Deri served in that cabinet post for two terms and wanted to return in the outgoing 19th Knesset, but Shas was not a member of the coalition.
Yachad party leader Eli Yishai, who was also a Shas party leader and minister of the interior has also set his sights on his former office if Yachad is successful in passing the minimum threshold in the elections and if the party joins the coalition

basically theyre not goingg to sit in the same coalition
The price for being in the coalition may be having to either agree to cosncription of yeshiva students, or in return for getting conscription blocked passing on the lucrative patronage that goes with being a cabinet minister. And with a lot smaller number of seats, Deri’s bargaining position is much weakened.
