Sen. Harry Reid Speaks On Senate Floor Week After Surgery

reidSenate Democratic leader Harry Reid is back on the Senate floor speaking about legislation, a week after surgery to remove a blood clot in his right eye and repair bones in his face.

The 75-year-old Reid walked without assistance to his podium in the Senate, accepted a welcome back handshake from Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and thanked his colleagues for their well-wishes. His eye was bandaged and his jaw appeared bruised.

Reid broke bones in his face and fractured ribs when a piece of exercise equipment broke at his new home in Nevada.

Doctors are optimistic that Reid will regain vision in his injured eye, although they are not yet able to say for sure. He missed the first two weeks of the new session.
