American Airlines, US Airways and their regional carriers have canceled almost 1,800 flights due to winter storms in the Midwest and Northeast.
A spokeswoman for Fort Worth-based American says about 880 flights were canceled Monday. Andrea Huguely says the carriers on Sunday canceled nearly 900 flights.
Huguely says the cancellations are mainly in the Chicago, Boston and New York City areas. She says American planned to resume service at New York’s there main airports by Monday afternoon, weather permitting.
Huguely says very heavy snow in Boston continued to hamper flights.
