In line with the instructions of the President of Yeshivas Ponevezh Rabbi Eliezer Kahanaman, work has begun on an elevator to serve Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita. The work has begun to install a special elevator for the kollel next to the yeshiva.
It was decided that due to the Gadol Hador’s weakened condition at times and his advanced age, the elevator would significantly assist him in coming and going to deliver his shiurim and to take part in events in the kollel.
Due to the rav’s difficulties at times in navigating the staircase of his home, a year ago a special entrance was arrange to facilitate the rav coming and going from home.

It’s so bizarre that public buildings there are built without elevators.
These are not tall buildings requiring elevators. They are generally 2 or 3 stories and easily accessible for most kollel yungerleit. Obviously, as the rav gets older, its more of a challenge navigating staircases. I’m sure whatever they install will be have a kosher “Shabbos timer” like other elevators used by frum yidden.
