Rav Amnon Yitzchak expresses his shock after hearing testimony regarding what is done in Eretz Yisrael and the world in the process of shechita. Rav Amon speaks of a letter written by Rishon L’Tzion HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Yosef regarding one involved in shechita and when asked what actions he would be taking in response, the Rishon L’Tzion responded it was being looked into and handled.

Rav Amnon laments in the interim, it is business as usual and people wait for their meat and continue eating. Regarding a “certain badatz, it is not a matter of treif or not but a matter of mehadrin as per the view of the Shulchan Aruch”.

Rav Amnon mentions another badatz, and contact with a son of the rav in charge but once again, corrective action is not taken. In yet another case, not only was the meat not mehadrin but there was a fear of treif and yet another case which addressed meat that was reportedly treibered but chelev was not removed as required by halacha. One of the Chief Rabbis sent a shaliach to check the meat and after inspecting several dozen cartons it was determined it was fine. That same Chief Rabbi then authorized the meat. The person who sounded the alert assisted it was not okay and there was chelev. It was learned “That person who was once called rav was incorrect and there was chelev and the meat was disqualified. I am told now they no longer send people to be tested by him” says Rav Amnon.

In the almost half hour address, the rav cites numerous examples of eye-turning and ignoring the problem, explaining that or him, he cannot remain silent and only remain concerned for himself. As such, for now he has moved to fish pending the outcome of his own investigation. “There is also a problem concerning poultry, another type of problem however”.
