The National Weather Service says the New York metro area should expect a mixed bag of light snow, sleet and freezing rain due to a winter storm system moving up the Eastern seaboard this weekend
A meteorologist says light snow will arrive Friday night and then turn to a mixture of sleet and freezing rain by Saturday morning with temperatures around freezing before changing to plain rain, sleet and snow.
Roadways will be slick with icy conditions. The rain and snow should taper off by early Saturday evening after dumping about 2 to 4 inches of snow in the area.
Weather officials say parts of Connecticut could get half a foot of snow. Some counties in Massachusetts could see up to 7 inches along with heavy winds.
