Rabbi Avichai Ronsky, a member of the Bayit Yehudi party ticket in the 20th Knesset elections, spoke out against dati leumi personalities joining Eli Yishai’s Yachad party. His Facebook posting comes following the announcement Rabbi Moshe Hager, a rosh yeshiva of a Mechina yeshiva and prominent dati leumi rav, joined the Yachad party.
“I was sorrow to hear that persons and rabbonim who are among the best of the builders of Eretz Yisrael are joining the new party headed by Eli Yishai. It is likely that Otzma Yisrael will try its luck in the election. There are rumors that a prominent rabbi encourages the additional party” Rabbi Ronsky wrote on Facebook.
“To gather those who cling to Torah, the religious and chareidim to one party – it appears this will be the job of Moshiach, so why must the dati leumi community have a number of parties” he asks.
“Aren’t the folks of Bayit Yehudi Torani and Yirei Shomayim and isn’t Torat Yisrael the center of their lives as is evident by their concerns for education, security, settlement and the other issues of the state? Can it be that the rainbow of elderly rabbonim, roshei yeshivot of the large yeshivot from Kiryat Shmona to the Negev who support Bayit Yehudi do not see the need for a single party and not splinter parties, some questionable if they will pass the minimal threshold” Rabbi Ronsky continues.
Ronsky calls on the dati leumi tzibur to unite behind one party and under one political roof as the Tekuma folks and their rabbonim have done.

Come on Ronsky you know that Bayit Yehudi is positioning itself as “traditional”, and specifically not “Dati”. You know that very well.
Nothing is as clear as it seems.
All groups are diluted & heterogeneous. Charedi, Dati Leumi, Chardal, RZ, Chassidim, Mesorati….

That, indeed, is the question — whether or not Torat Yisrael is at the center of their lives.
Giving Lapid a hug and a kiss and calling him your brother makes one wonder.
Not putting up a good (let alone effective) fight against all the various anti-religious laws makes one wonder.
Opening up the party to secular Jews makes one wonder.
Having commercials with Kol Isha makes one wonder.
Based on the above (and more), any people (including those within the daati leumi world) have concluded that the answer is no, Torat Yisrael is not at the center of their lives. That is why prominent daati leumi Rabbis are joining forces with Eli Yishai and Rabbi Mazuz.
