A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 88, Tuesday evening.

Lakewood PD tells YWN that upon arrival, Officers learned that a 17 year old male had been struck by a car while crossing the street with a group of friends.

The juvenile was hit by a 1995 Oldsmobile operated by a 35 year Lakewood man. The driver was traveling southbound on Route 9 when he observed a male, wearing dark clothing, in the crosswalk. He made an attempt to avoid the victim, however, it was unsuccessful.

As a result the victim was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center by Hatzolah First Aid. Specifics about his injuries are not readily available. However, they are not believed to be life threatening at this time.
