There is an increasingly audible voice calling for action following the revelation of possible wrongdoing in the Bayit Yehudi party primaries. A number of candidates who failed to earn a realistic slot in the lineup point out there were discrepancies in the number of votes and actual ballots and this cannot be ignored.
It is reported that 42,333 election ballots were completed. Each ballot permitted a voter to divide ten points among seven candidates. This should have resulted in 423,330 votes but in actuality, there was 470,000 and no one among the party leaders appears interested in probing how and why this occurred.
One candidate spoke with the dati leumi Srugim website and stated he is certain that he should have been in a realistic slot. He questions why party officials demanded to know how many points each candidates received in each voting station. The source explains that 2.5 years ago party officials were willing to reveal numbers but today, no one is cooperating.
“There is a surplus of 56,000 votes” stated one candidate who is now demanding to see the ballot slips, pointing out this was not a problem in the past but today it appears to be an issue. He adds there were no poll watchers observing the count and an explanation is in order to determine if those votes were or should be counted and where the over 56,000 votes have gone.
The candidate promises that if Bayit Yehudi does not reveal the information he will take his case to court.
