The compensation program for people with health problems related to the Sept. 11 attacks says it has approved payments of $804,116,233 to 3,128 claimants.
Officials at Sept. 11th Victim Compensation Fund say the fund has paid $58,851,236 as of Jan 2.
The fund was reopened by the passage of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010.
The Zadroga Act put $2.8 billion in the fund to compensate people with health problems related to the attacks.
People who suffered health effects caused by the attacks and the survivors of people whose deaths are linked to the attacks are eligible.
Fund Special Master Sheila Birnbaum said in a memo Thursday that the fund is continuing to expand its outreach team and its communications with claimants and their attorneys.
