The concept of yarchei kallah is not one originally conceived by Beth Medrash Govoha. It is however, an idea that they have harnessed to create an opportunity for the myriads of baalei batim who would relish the thought of two days spent wholly absorbed in the pursuit of intense Torah learning. BMG therefore presents baalei batim with a winter yarchei kallah, giving them a chance to reconnect to the intensity of full-time learning for a precious two full days.
This initiative, under the auspices of BMG’s Shivti program, is geared specifically for baalei batim in that the learning is relevant to their specific situation in life. The baalei batim will be studying the areas of Torah and halacha that pertain to business and commerce in an-depth, yeshiva-style way. The learning becomes not only rewarding and enjoyable, but applicable and relevant to the rest of the year, as well.
Participants of last year’s event attest to its success and have been excitedly awaiting the arrival of the next yarchei kallah with much anticipation. There is also much interest from those who have not yet participated but are eager to join this inspiring endeavor for the first time. Registration is open to all baalei batim regardless of age and previous affiliation with BMG. Last year’s attendees even included some father and son/son-in-law pairs who chose to use this time to bond with each other as they learn.
This year’s yarchei kallah will take place from Motzei Shabbos, February 7th to Monday, February 9th in the beautiful Hyatt Regency of Princeton, NJ. The serene environment, conveniently located, yet set apart from the bustle of everyday living, creates an oasis of calm which allows participants to truly disengage from their everyday worries and focus completely on utilizing every minute of learning to its maximum. BMG will be providing the baalei batim with all their material needs via comfortable lodgings and catered meals thereby ensuring that the baalei batim can completely immerse themselves in their learning without worrying about any of their mundane needs.
