While the polls show Shas is stabilizing somewhat and Eli Yishai fails to enter the 20th Knesset, Yishai has recorded a victory over Deri. Yossi Bechar, Yishai’s candidate beat out Deri’s candidate, Eli Yariv in the Bat Yam mayoral race.
The win however did more than boost Yishai’s spirits, it angered Yahadut Hatorah, which backed the same candidate as Deri. It appears some are now scratching their heads angrily questioning what the future will bring with Eli Yishai “on the other side of the Torah camp”.
It should be pointed out that Yishai’s candidate was also backed by Mekubal HaRav Binyamin Shmueli Shlita. Yariv on the other hand has been welcomed to the homes of Maran HaGaon HaRav Aaron Yehuda Leib Shteinman Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky Shlita in addition to being backed by Shas’ Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael.
Bechar has been serving as acting mayor since Shlomei Lakhani was compelled to step down in May 2014 after being convicted of fraud and other white collar crimes. Bechar beat out Deri’s candidate by 500 votes.

May the best ISH TOV win the race & who cares who the supporters @ backers are.

this machlokes is going too far
You making it sound like he was yishai candidate in the race he was the dati lomi candidate in the race and yishai also back him so it was a victory for the dati lomi.
Why do you call this site Yeshiva World when most of the Yeshiva world and it’s Gedolim are backing Deri and Shas whom you obviously hate?

Not sure your info is correct regarding backers of Yishai or Deri.
