Deputy Minister of Education (Bayit Yehudi) Avi Wortzman has fired his media spokesman, Udi Tena, in response to an objectionable Facebook post targeting MK Shuli Muallem of Bayit Yehudi. Wortzman told Tena the dismissal was effective immediately.
Tena posted that Muallem, a bereaved wife, made a political career on the mourning of her husband, Lt.-Colonel Moshe Muallem HY”, who fell in the IDF chopper accident in 1997.
Wortzman explained the posting reflects Tena’s personal opinion only, and are in contradiction to Muallem’s values and actions.
Udi then wrote “In a moment of emotion I ended up posting on Facebook. Immediately after I posted it I realized how terrible it is. From that moment I continue to regret what I said. Shuli, I am sorry. I am full of pain with the pain I have caused you”.

Typical Israeli way of operating, say exactly what you mean then wallow in shallow tears of false regret. And this from a public relations expert, a government spokesman. When will these people learn the first rule: engage brain in gear before opening mouth. That is of course if you have a working brain.
If Tena regrets it, let’s bury it. Lest we want our teshuva to also be undermined.
