After Yisrael Beitenu Minister of Tourism Dr. Uzi Landau and party MK David Rotem announced they are leaving politics, Minister of Public Security Yitzchak Aharonovich made his announcement. The minister told the press on erev Shabbos 18 Teves that he will not seek reelection, preferring to leave the Knesset following an eight-year political career. Insiders report Aharonovich’s decision was prompted by party leader Avigdor Lieberman informing him he was not going to be positioned in a realistic slot in the lineup for the 20th Knesset.
According to sources in the party, Minister of Agriculture Yair Shamir, who entered politics in the 19th Knesset, is expected to announce he too has had enough.
