Former IDF major-general Yoav Galant has officially agreed to come on board and join the Kulanu party headed by Moshe Kahlon. The addition of Kahlon is important as Kahlon now has his security expert in place. Galant will receive the second slot on the lineup.

The official announcement is expected to be made by Kahlon in a media event on Thursday evening.

Galant, who last served as the IDF’s Southern District commander, was slated to become the 20th IDF chief of staff instead of Gabi Ashkenazi. The appointment was already approved by the cabinet but portions of a state comptroller’s report about him led to that falling to the wayside and Ashkenazi receiving the appointment.
