While talk of lowering the cost of basic items dominates the elections, car importers report 2014 was an all-time record breaker as 239,771 new vehicles were sold nationwide. This represents a 12.8% increase from 2013 when 212,581 news cars were sold.
Leading in sales was Hyundai (31,376) followed by Toyota (27,384). The most popular Toyota was the Corolla, selling 13,694 cars. Third place went to KIA (26,365), followed by Mazda (17,090), Skoda (14,289), Mitsubishi (13,141), Chevrolet (12,106) and Nissan/Renault closing to top ten list with 9,872 and 9,436 respectively. (In Israel, Caraso Motors sells both Renault & Nissan. Hence they are listed together).
