One of the more important considerations for parties ahead of elections is party funding to run a campaign. Knesset officials verify that each MK brings an election budget of 1.3 million NIS. Regarding Tzipi Livni’s The Movement party, despite the fact four of the six party members did not make the move with her, Livni brings 7.8 million NIS to the Labor campaign even though MKs Amram Mitzne, Meir Sheetrit, David Tzur and Elazar Stern decided not to remain with Livni. The only party member who agreed to move to Labor with Livni is Amir Peretz. Since Stern and Tzur remain in a political fog and did not break off to join a party together, they are not receiving money. The other MKs; Mitzne and Sheetrit retired from the Knesset. Hence, all the funding remains with Livni.
The law requires a third of a party’s MKs to break away and launch a party together to be entitled to funding. This is also why Shas will keep all of its funding and Eli Yishai and his Ha’Am Itanu party will not receive funding. Bayit Yehudi will also receive the funding for MK Yoni Chetboun, who teamed up with Yishai.

The bottom line is always; CHECK THE MONEY SUPPLY.
It should be mentioned that the funding is from taxes. Parties receive money from taxes and once you are registered as a party, the money becomes permanent.
Someone commented the other day about this choice of picture and I would like to add my request to theirs… Please do find a better picture of Eli Yishai that does not portray him at a vulnerable moment. I’m sure you can find one of him smiling. Unless of course there is some hidden agenda in picturing him crying.
