High Winds, Plunging Temperatures In Store For Upstate NY

coldGusty winds and plunging temperatures are in store this week for upstate New York, where high temperatures will barely hit double digits in some northern areas.

High winds and blowing snow are delaying the start of classes by two hours Monday morning in about two dozen school districts in the Syracuse area and other parts of central New York. The National Weather Service reports wind gusts of up to 40 mph from Buffalo to the Albany area.

Forecasters say temperatures will continue to dip Monday into Tuesday, when highs are expected to be in the teens or low 20s for much of the upstate region. Later in the week, the highs will struggle to get above 10 degrees in the Adirondacks, where lows are expected to dip to 20 below zero overnight Thursday.
