A tea partyer who’s been an outspoken critic of House Speaker John Boehner says he’ll challenge Boehner for the job when the new Congress convenes Tuesday.
Republican Louie Gohmert of Texas says voters made clear in the November election that they want change. Republicans unseated Democrats as the majority party in the Senate and increased their advantage in the House.
Boehner still is expected to win despite opposition from some Republicans who refused to back the Ohio lawmaker in 2013.
Rep. Ted Yoho of Florida has said he is open to challenging Boehner.
Two other Republicans, Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Jim Bridenstine of Oklahoma, have said they will not vote for Boehner in the speaker’s race.

There are some really smart conservative members of the House but this guy Gohmert is mamash one of the biggest fools ever elected to Congress. I’m not sure why these nitwits seem to perpetually try to grab attention while the rising stars seem content to fade into the background.
All it takes is 29 Republicans NOT to vote for bonehead crybaby Boehner and he’s BH done. It’s time for a Speaker who represents the party and not democrat party lite.
To commenter no. 1: The reason why nitwits seek attention is because they are … nitwits.
To commenters 1 and 2: The party leader of each house has, since at least the time of the American Civil War, been a compromise candidate whose responsibility is to hold party factions together and prevent the party from tearing itself apart. Hence rising stars fade into the background, unless they want to be party unifiers and put aside their own ideological preferences. If commenter no. 2 gets his wish, Democrats may pick up a few Republican allies.
Number 3 read again. He is saying the revolt would lead to a real republican leading the house not a democrats in republican garb
