Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is urging the community to arrive early today to the funeral services for Police Officer Wenjian Liu. “Where would we be without the police?” said the Assemblyman. “It’s important that our community makes it clear that the NYPD’s loss is indeed our loss.”
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am.
If anyone wishes to attend there will be an area set up for the general public on 14th Avenue and 65th Street. There will also be large screen televisions set up outside for those wishing to view the service.
It is expected that there will be thousands of people coming to pay their respects to the fallen officer.
There will be no parking on:
12th Avenue between 65th Street and Ovington Avenue 13th Avenue between 62nd Street and Bay Ridge Avenue
62nd Street between 10th and 13th Avenues (railroad side of the street)
Although not in our precinct there will also be no parking on 15th/16th/and 17th Avenues between 65th Street and Bay Ridge Parkway (75th Street)
These parking restrictions will be in effect beginning at 2 am.
65th Street will also be closed to traffic on Sunday from 8th Avenue to 19th Avenue starting at around 9am (again this is approximate).
