Chief Rabbi Appointed in Netanya After 26 Years

3After 26 years without a chief rabbi, Rabbi Kalman Bar Shlita assumed the position of mora d’asra of Netanya on Monday, 7 Teves 5775. Taking part in the ceremony were Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita, Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem Rabbi Shlomo Amar Shlita, Rosh Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh Rabbi Mordechai Greenberg Shlita, former Chief Rabbi Yonah Metzger Shlita, Minister of Religious Services Naftali Bennett and his assistant, Deputy Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan, Interior Minister Gilad Erdan, Mayor Mrs. Miriam Fierberg and local officials.

Bayit Yehudi officials point out the appointment is a continuation of efforts by Ben-Dahan to appoint Zionist rabbonim to fill municipality vacancies.

Rabbi Bar is a graduate of the Bnei Akiva yeshiva network and Yeshivat Hesder Kerem B’Yavneh and earned his Rabbanut semicha as well as certification to serve as a rav of a city. He was employed for years as a rebbe in that yeshiva as well as serving as rav in the Talpiot College in Tel Aviv. He also gives shiurim in Kibbutz Chafetz Chaim on a regular basis and serves as the head of the girl’s high school on kibbutz.

  1. Sensible for a Zionist country to have Frum, Toradig, Erhlich Torah scholars who happen to also be “Zionistic” (what does that mean? that your semicha is from a non-European Yeshiva gedolah, that gives shiur in lashon hakodesh??)

  2. #1
Zionists were relatively once a small minority.

Millions of your brethren over generations were convinced to follow the siren song ,because they promised that there some things were above zionism

    such as the rabbinate
