After the damaging video tape showing Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L blasting Aryeh Deri, the Ha’Am Itanu party and its leaders were quick to inform the media they had absolutely nothing to do with the release of the video. HaGaon HaRav Meir Mazuz Shlita, spiritual leader of Eli Yishai’s party and Yishai released statements distancing themselves from the video which was aired on Channel 2 TV News on Sunday evening 6 Teves.
Rav Mazuz and Yishai made it clear that they were not behind the video and had no connection to its release.

Why not? What’s so bad if they were? – I don’t get it.
the video is underhanded. the Maran did not know and it’s not right to air it without his consent.
I hear that there are more videos. One thing that I never understood, and now am even more puzzled, why would the Rav bring back a convicted criminal? Now that he himself has said that in the video – and there is no denying that he felt that way, the question is even more puzzling. The question that every thinking rational person must ask himself is – What did Deri have on someone close to the Rav, that would have the Rav switch and support him after such a damning video? There is no other explanation other that makes any sense to me.
