Berkeley Mayor Says Shooting Different to Ferguson

berThe mayor of Berkeley, Missouri, says the city will thoroughly investigate the fatal shooting of a black 18-year-old by a white police officer. But Mayor Theodore Hoskins says comparisons to the Michael Brown case in Ferguson are unfair.

Hoskins spoke at a news conference Wednesday, hours after the shooting Tuesday night at a convenience store in Berkeley.

Berkeley, which is 82 percent black, is in north St. Louis County, next to Ferguson, where a white police officer killed Michael Brown, an unarmed black 18-year-old, in August.

Hoskins says the situations are different. He noted that surveillance footage shows the Berkeley 18-year-old pointed a gun at the officer who shot him. Also, Ferguson has a largely white police force, but the majority of police officers in Berkeley are black.

  1. Unfortunately, the words of the mayor will fall upon deaf ears. The heat of the current uprising, called “racial tension” is fueled by the midget brains that occupy the White House, office of the Attorney General, and the backrooms of the loudmouths like Sharpton and his ilk. The mission is devoid of logic, and there is no useful effort at addressing the issues from an intellectual standpoint. The goal is to incite the masses, generate as many black riots as possible, blame the white class for them, render any retail stores fair game to rip off in the unbridled rage, then take more taxpayer dollars to undo the damage, and force us to use race as the reason to elect a president who is beyond incompetent.

Demonstrations and protests are part of the Bill of Rights. But to abuse this Bill of Rights to connect it to rage and violence is unacceptable. We really need our leaders, from the White House, to the governors of the states, to the mayors of the cities to make that point, loud and clear. The current situation is chaotic.
