New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is meeting with the family of Officer Rafael Ramos, who was shot to death in a squad car this weekend with his partner.

The mayor and Police Commissioner William Bratton were meeting with Ramos’ relatives Monday.

Ramos and his partner, Officer Wenjian Liu, were ambushed by 28-year-old Ismaaiyl (IHSH’-mayl) Brinsley on Saturday afternoon. Brinsley ran into a subway and killed himself on the platform. He aimed to meet with the Liu’s family later in the day.

The mayor planned a speech later Monday at the Police Athletic League.
