MK Elazar Stern, perhaps the most driving force in the outgoing Knesset to push halachically problematic bills, has submitted his letter of resignation to The Movement party leader Tzipi Livni. Stern explains that while he respects the accomplishment of Livni and her actions in the past, he, as a political centrist cannot move to the Labor party with her as per her recent deal guaranteeing her the second slot on that party’s lineup.
Stern explains that if compelled to be out of the Knesset that will be his fate but he is not ready to become a member of the left-wing ticket just to remain in the party or in Knesset.
For the time being Stern is a free agent seeking to align with a centrist party ahead of elections.

Livni herself is from a solid revisionist (Herut) background, and her record doesn’t really make for her being a socialist, which is why many in the Labor party fear her joining Labor will cause many traditional Labor voters to flee.
The past is the past, many people make political, religious or agenda shifts from their parents household.
Not so UNUSUAL!!
