Separate fires ravaged buildings in Queens and Brooklyn.
A blaze at a structure on 97th Street in Queens went to five alarms Thursday afternoon, sending flames through the residential building and forcing the evacuation of multiple families.
On Thursday night, fire broke out at a building on Stillwell Avenue in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn. The Fire Department requested a third alarm, and said the building contained businesses on the first floor and was vacant on the two floors above.
No injuries were reported at either fire.
