Last week, the Likud Central Committee voted to move up the party’s primaries to December 31, 2014 and permit the party leader, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu lock in two slots on the ticket to fill with his selections.
The ruling was challenged in the party’s court by MY Moshe Feiglin, with the case heard by a three-justice panel, which disqualified the ruling. The disqualification was appealed by the prime minister to a panel of five justices, which has ruled the central committee’s decision stands. Hence the primaries will be moved up and the slots locked in for the prime minister remain as they were.
