A new poll finds Mayor Bill de Blasio’s approval rating is slipping in the wake of protests surrounding the Eric Garner grand jury decision.
A Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday said that 47 percent of New Yorkers approve of his job as mayor while 38 percent do not.
His job approval was 49 percent last month.
Fifty-six percent of those polled disapprove of the way de Blasio is handling relations between police and community.
De Blaiso’s vow to improve those relations is a centerpiece of his administration. There have been large demonstrations after a police officer was not indicted for Garner’s death.
The mayor also pledged to ban horse carriages but two-thirds of New Yorkers oppose that effort.
The poll has a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points.
