Dozens of religious leaders and others have briefly blocked a New York intersection with a peaceful ‘die-in.’
The protests Thursday are the latest demonstrations against grand jury decisions not to indict police officers in the deaths of a Missouri’s Michael Brown and New York’s Eric Garner.
Many prominent members of the clergy from New York and Ferguson, Mo., were led in song by activist Tara Thompson. The ‘die-in’ took place at 121st Street and Broadway in Manhattan.
Among the protesters was civil rights activist Cornel West. He and others are calling for a federal investigation and prosecution of the police officers.
West said the protests are the latest in a long series of demonstrations for civil rights.
There were no immediate reports of arrests.
