Report: PA to Request UN Probe into Death of Minister

pm

Following the death of PA Minister of Prisoner Affairs Ziad Abu Ein last week, PA (Palestinian Authority) Chairman Abu Mazen plans to take the case to the United Nations. The minister collapsed during a violent protest in Shomron. Video footage shows a border policeman pushing him. The minister then collapsed and died a short time later.

When an IDF paramedic tried to treat him on the scene, the military medic was pushed away and Ein was transported to a Ramallah hospital by the Red Crescent where he died.

While the autopsy was carried out by the PA, it was observed by Dr. Chen Kugel and Dr. Maya Furman of the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. They determined the cause of death to be a blockage of the coronary artery due to hemorrhaging underneath a layer of atherosclerotic plaque.

Nevertheless, the PA and Abu Mazen continue to report the IDF caused the death and they now wish to involve the UN, the Lebanese Al-Miadin news agency reports. The PA will be bringing the matter to the Security Council.
