While Shas MK Eli Yishai has been avoiding the media, his brother, Nissim, spoke with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) on Sunday 22 Kislev and expressed his anger. He attacked Shas leader Aryeh Deri during the interview, explaining how the Deri camp pressured Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L until he agreed to appoint Deri as the party leader instead of his brother.
“They pressured him when was already weak and ill and he said the three should lead but they continued pressuring him” until he finally appointed Deri to head the party.
Nissim said that as things stand today, it is better for his brother to resign, calling on Aryeh Deri to step forward and set the record straight. He stressed his brother wishes to continue his public service and if he decides to break from Shas and run he will assist him but they are hopeful an agreement can be reached permitting him to remain in Shas.
When asked to comment on reports Eli wishes to join with Tekuma faction leader Housing Minister Uri Ariel, Nissim explained he does not see the bond between them but preferred not to say more. He said “Ariel is a special Jew but I don’t see it”.

They didn’t have to pressure the Rav to go with Deri. Simple story to follow:
Since all of us studied Sefer Braysheet (the Book of Genesis) and the whole discussion that the Nachash(snake) had with Chavah (Eve.) How convincing was the Nachash to have Chavah touch the tree? Once that was accomplished, having her take hold of the fruit. Now came the simplest of tasks since accomplished the other hurdles and that was to taste the fruit. That too was accomplished by the Nachash (snake) without any arm twisting.
The Rav already was saddened with the fact that Deri was being imprisoned on trumped-up charges, charges later to be found factual. Deri’s son was now living in the U.S. and no longer in Israel and this information got back to the Rav and other saddening stories were also passed on sublingually by Rabbanit Yehudit Yosef (young son, Moshe Yosef’s wife.) She cooked the meals for the Rav and also was very acquainted with the Deri family. Deri, did not pray in the Rav’s private minyan during the week but on rare occasions he would stroll in on a Shabbat morning only.
Look at Deri’s left hand as he’s trying to make a point even when they’re trying make a l’chayim.

“Current Shas chairman and Interior Minister Eli Yishai has called upon Deri to join together with him under Yishai’s leadership ahead of the next general election. **But Deri has repeatedly rejected the offer and intends to form a new socioeconomic party.**
Ideas have been raised among those closest to Shas mentor Rabbi Ovadia Yosef in an effort to find a way to enable Deri to run under Yishai in Shas rather than on two separate lists.
One possibility that has been discussed is to keep Yishai as Shas chairman but make Deri the party’s top minister.”
Who wanted to bring shalom to the Shas party? Yishai. Who was cocky and didn’t want to join under the circumstances that was given to him which include Chacham Ovadia Yosef? DERI – THE SNAKE.
