Shortly after 1:30PM Friday afternoon a family traveling to Beitar for Shabbat stopped at a bus stop to pick up a passenger.
At that time an attacker who was waiting at the scene splashed an acidic substance into the vehicle moderately injuring the driver and lightly injuring his wife and 3 children.
United Hatzalah medic from Beitar Shraga Hoffman who was on scene reports that bystanders saw the injured driver chase after the attacker who then ran after other civilians with a screwdriver and was shot and moderately injured by a civilian who had given chase.
The attacker was moderately injured with gunshot wound to his lower body.
A passing Border Police unit secured the scene and United Hatzalah units from Beitar were on scene almost immediately.
At this point the substance has not been identified.
The children suffered acid burns on the lower parts of their bodies.

It will be a cultural change in EY but its time to make it illegal to pick up hitchhikers. The risk of attack is simply too great and what you think you see on the side of the road may not be reality. There should be penalties for both the driver and hitchhiker; otherwise, these attacks will proliferate.
#1 I believe if I’m reading the article correctly it seens to me that the family was picking up a passenger they knew, unrelated to the attacker, who happened to be there and waiting for the opportunity to attack.
to Gadolhadorah: sounds pretty whimpy weak and defeatist.
They terrorize so stop living live???
You shot to kill, and elect Moshe Feiglin who will annex ALL of Israel, kick the wakf off the har habayit and end the oslo catastrophe which is about dividing our holy land and showing weakness.
This will bring respect and deterrence back to Israel.
