Authorities say one person died and five others were injured in a fire at a 24-story apartment building in Brooklyn.
The blaze broke out just before 3 a.m. Friday on West 33rd Street in Coney Island.
Fire officials say it was brought under control just after 5 a.m.
Police say a man in his 30s died in the blaze.
The fire department says another person suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. The other injuries were minor.
Authorities say an earlier fire in Brooklyn’s East New York section injured seven people. One person had serious but non-life threatening injuries. The rest suffered minor injuries.
The Hendrix Street blaze erupted at 1:07 a.m. Part of the roof collapsed before it was brought under control at 3:52 a.m.
Both fires are under investigation.
