The High Court of Justice on Wednesday afternoon 18 Kislev rejected the appeal filed earlier in the day by MK Hanin Zoabi. Zoabi filed an appeal with the nation’s highest court after the Knesset Ethics Committee banned her from the plenum for six months. The punishment was in response to her many statements in which she regarded Hamas terrorists as “freedom fighters” and accused Israel of “Ethnic cleansing” in her reference to Operation Protective Edge, the IDF’s counter-terrorism offensive launched in Gaza in the summer of 2014 to halt rocket fire into Israel.
The court ruled that it is not its place to interfere in the decision-making process of the Knesset Ethics Committee, rejecting the appeal.
