The appointment of Major-General Gadi Eizenkott as the next IDF Chief of Staff will be submitted for cabinet approval on Sunday 22 Kislev following the approval of his candidacy by the advisory committee on senior appointments and positions chaired by former Supreme Court judge Jacob Turkel.

Last week the committee met with Eizenkott, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ayalon and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz.

After being approved by the Turkel Committee, the appointment is viewed as sealed and while additional approvals are required, they are more a matter of formality.
