Israel May Offer Gaza Gas via Ashkelon Pipeline

ppWith the so-called Disengagement of 2005 a number of years behind, some government officials are seeking to reconnect towards solving Gaza’s shortage of electricity. This is while the Israel Electric Company has been seeking way to collect billions of shekels in money owed by Gaza.

According to a Walla News report, after Israel rejected a Turkish plan to position a ship off the coast of Gaza to furnish electricity, it has been learned there is now talk about connecting Gaza to a natural gas line from Ashkelon to power the Gaza electric station. The report fails to mention if the pipeline will be laid especially deep underground to prevent damage from incoming missiles fired from Gaza towards Ashkelon.

The report cites however that the talks are in the advanced stage as Israel is interested in solving “the humanitarian crisis in Gaza”, the crisis created in part by Hamas using international donor funds for munitions and armaments instead of building a national infrastructure. Opponents point out that currently, fuel trucks must cross into Gaza and therefore they remain under Israeli control but a gas line with create a new reality that would not permit Israel the same measure of control.

  1. GREAT! Hamas owes Israel millions in electric bill, let’s just give them free gas now!
Feiglin is the ONLY sane one. Pay them to LEAVE!
stop investing in them to fester and be a problem.

  2. if they go ahead then they need to have their heads examined .at least dont put them underground so hamas missiles could hit them.
