Speaking with Ynet on Sunday 8 Kislev, MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Yaakov Litzman explains “If Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu wants us in the coalition he will have to turn back the clock”. Litzman added that the prime minister’s people are literally hounding the chareidi lawmakers, seeking at the very least a commitment to recommend him for the presidential mandate to the president following elections.
Litzman adds that all of the chareidi parties are on the same page and Yahadut Hatorah and Shas will not act without the other being onboard, signaling they will not permit the prime minister to split the chareidim this time around. Litzman added that around the time of the Yomim Tovim a representative of the Yesh Atid party came to him seeking to determine if there was a possibility of the chareidim entering a coalition with the party, but he questioned how such a deal would be possible. The Yesh Atid representative seemed to feel something could be worked out. Litzman adds that two weeks ago an official of the party approached him and asked two questions; seeking to determine if he would enter a coalition with Yesh Atid alone or Yesh Atid along with the Labor party and he responded no, this would not be possible.
“My job as a member of the opposition is to topple the coalition. The point is we want elections” adds Litzman, adding “A decision is expected this week. If [Labor party leader MK Yitzchak] Herzog will come with a proposition this week we will discuss it”.
