The Conflict Between Deri & Yishai Continues to Escalate


deryiSpeaking with Kol Berama Radio host Mordechai Lavi on Sunday 8 Kislev, former Shas party leader Eli Yishai agreed to address a Haaretz poll showing Shas falling to only 6 seats from its current 11 seats. That poll was conducted by the Dialogue Institute headed by Tel Aviv University’s Prof. Camil Fuchs, and it also shows that former Likud Minister Moshe Kahlon will get between 7 and 12 seats, undoubtedly taking a number from Shas.

When asked about entering the current administration, Yishai said “I said many times that there are wonder associated with politics but I still do not see entering this coalition”.

Yishai admits that her personally is worried about the polls, continuing by criticizing party leader Aryeh Deri for firing a senior party official who he appointed, stressing he will do his utmost to maintain a working relationship with his replacement. Yishai is referring to Deri firing Asher Mishali from his post as party treasurer. He explains that just recently he asked Deri not to fire him and that is just what he did and then he continues talking about making peace and working with him. “I want there to be a true peace [between us], one that the tzibur can believe in. I will turn every stone towards achieving this true peace and achdus”.

  1. The Deri -Yishai rift is a real issue.
    It is not easily solved since it “seems” that Chacham Yosef gave the reins to Deri & to untangle them is not a simple matter.

    The numbers are falling and it happens often, the roller coaster goes up, down, up and down.
