MK (Labor) Shelly Yacimovich spoke on Shabbos in a Holon Shabbos cultural event. She explained there are people working today to build a government that would provide an alternative to the current administration.
She presented her realistic picture, which extinguishes hope of such an occurrence. She explained that while some of the coalition partners may change, it has been proven in the past that any coalition government under the rule of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will reflect his ideals and coalition partners simply do not have the political strength to influence major policy decisions in the realm of social and diplomatic affairs. She continues working to replace Netanyahu for she does not agree with his right-wing politics vis-à-vis the nation’s economy and other critical issues.
She added that regarding what many believe are inevitable elections in 2015. “To my sorrow only one party is becoming stronger, and that is Bayit Yehudi. None of the other parties are interested in elections now so therefore I do not believe it will occur as some believe will be the case”.
Addressing the recent resigning of Minister of Environmental Affairs (The Movement) Amir Peretz from the cabinet, she applauded the move, adding “The Labor party does not have an acceptance committee for it is democratic and anyone wishing to join, including former members, one from a rival party or a new member. All are invited to do so and the party will decide who our elected officials will be.
Peretz was a former Labor leader and defected to The Movement when his leadership position was usurped by Yacimovich. Peretz is already signaling a possible return to Labor as he is reading the political map and is aware The Movement party has no future.
