AG Orders Police to Investigate Bribery Allegations against Ehud Barak


barFollowing the testimony of state witness Shula Zaken in the Talansky cash envelopes trial against former PM Ehud Olmert, State Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein has ordered police to investigate bribery allegations against former PM Ehud Barak.

In her testimony Zaken mentioned that Barak was involved in “millions of dollars in bribery” and this led to a public outcry. The Movement for Quality Government called on the attorney general to probe the allegations. On Monday 17 Marcheshvan the attorney general instructed police to begin an investigation to determine the validity of Zaken’s statements.

Barak has released statements to the media that the allegations are baseless, telling the press “If someone has evidence of this let him submit it to police”. The former prime minister insists Zaken’s statements are not based in fact and that he has no reason to be concerned since he was not involved in illegal activiites.
