Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) witnessed first-hand how several school buses filled with yeshiva children were trapped behind a sanitation truck during rush hour. Our Assemblyman has already contacted the Sanitation Commissioner and scheduled a meeting with the Sanitation Department to resolve this issue but that didn’t stop him from approaching the sanitation workers themselves.
“They agreed with me,” said Assemblyman Hikind. “They said their jobs would be much easier if they weren’t collecting during the busiest time of the morning. They said they hate hearing the horns honk behind them as the traffic backs up and that it personally disturbs them to know that children are trapped on school buses while they are scrambling to pick up the trash and move on. We need to come up with a solution to this problem right away.”
On Saturday evening, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio made it clear on Dov Hikind’s radio show that he agreed with Hikind that the sanitation problem in Boro Park must be addressed.

Thank You Dov.
Keep up the good work.
I simply LOVE Dov!!
You see, this is a REAL ISSUE affecting Boro park. And here is Hikind getting out there and doing something about this. Not like this pie in the sky housing crisis nonsense that Caller dreamed up between the ayer mit tzveebel and the cholent.
So Dov made the kids wait longer as he went and made a publicity stunt.
Scheduling garbage pickup so that it would coincide with street cleaning would free up a lane (provided that double parking would not be allowed) and prevent all the misery.
