Supreme Court Okays Introducing New Evidence in the Talansky Case


talansky.jpgMrs. Shula Zaken, who was former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s assistant and closest confidant during his political career, will on Monday 10 Marcheshvan provide new testimony for the state in the Talansky cash envelopes case. The former prime minister was acquitted of law-breaking in that case bug in a rare move, the nation’s highest court is permitting the introduction of new evidence against Olmert as part of an agreement signed by Zaken to become a state witness. Zaken is now serving her 11-month prison term, part of the agreement reached with the state. She stood firmly at Olmert’s side throughout the former PM’s trials, but eventually learned Olmert was making her the scapegoat in some of the cases. This prompted Zaken to change her attitude, expressing a willingness to testify against her former boss.

A five-justice panel including Court President Asher Grunis convened to hear the objections posed by the Olmert defense team and the call to permit introducing the evident by State Prosecutor Shai Nitzan.

This particular case against Olmert, and there have been several, in the Talansky case it is alleged Mr. Olmert accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribery money during his tenure as Minister of Industry & Trade.

  1. Leave Mr. Talanky out of this already! He has very torah’dig and special children/grandkids in eretz yisroel. He should be able to visit his family without the worries of this governments bmbaardment.
