The Hebron Jewish community is pleased, reporting over 40,000 people came to the holy city on Monday 19 Tishrei to participate in the main chol hamoed Sukkos event. Officials report that over 60,000 people have visited the city during yomtov.
The main event on Monday boasted a number of performers; including MBD, Yitzchak Meir, Chezki Sofer, Chaim Yisrael and Yishai Ribo. Representatives of Shas and Bayit Yehudi were on hand too. Shas’ MK Eli Yishai addressed the event, speaking of the importance of the achdus that is generated by such events in the holy city, an achdus that transcends all the political disagreement.
Deputy Minister of Education (Bayit Yehudi) also spoke, using the platform to condemn the Israel Police decision to close Har Habayis to non-Muslim visitors during periods of yomtov. He called on Israel Police to immediately open Har Habayis to Jewish visitors.
