It appears a glitch in the automated luggage sorting system in Ben-Gurion International Airport was responsible for thousands of passengers having to wait for their luggage. Some passengers had to wait for hours in the terminal. Officials in the airport explain the technical malfunction that caused the delays was a rare occurrence.

Additional personnel was brought in to permit employees to handle check-ins manually in the hope of preventing too big a delay in flight departures.

Arriving passengers told Walla News that no one bothered to brief them and passengers simply waited for hours without really understanding why their luggage was not appearing on the carousel.
