Tonight, Hebron’s Jewish community and the Hebron Fund are privileged to host the Main Selichot event at Ma’arat HaMachpela. Thousands of people will fill the huge structure atop the caves, the Tombs of Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebeccah, and Jacob and Leah.
Among those participating will be the Chief Rabbis of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef and Rabbi David Lau, along with Hebron-Kiryat Arba chief Rabbi, Rabbi Dov Lior, the chief Rabbi of Tzfat, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, and many others.
The Selichot, in the Isaac Hall at Ma’arat HaMachpela, will be broadcast on a live stream via,beginning at 9:30 (Israel time) (that is 2:30 EST) via https://www.hebronfund.
Events prior to the Selichot services will include a special program with the fathers of the three youth kidnapped and murdered outside of
Hebron, this past summer. Also speaking with be the young men’s Roshi Yeshiva, Rabbi Dov Zinger, from Makor Chaim, and Rabbi Chananel Etrog, of Yeshivat Shavei Hevron.
Other tours and presentations will also take place, before the main Selichot event begins at 11:30 PM(Israel time).
Tonight’s events are primarily for men. Tomorrow evening, a second Selichot program will take place, primarily for women. Joining this event will be the three murdered youth’s mothers, as well as Rebetzin Tzivya Eliyahu, widow of the late Chief Rabbi, Mordechai Eliyahu.
