Since formally kicking off his campaign for the NY State Assembly in the 48th district two weeks ago, Real Estate and Tax Attorney Nachman Caller has received much positive feedback over his plan to build some 2,000 housing units in Borough Park and be a strong advocate for the struggling class in Albany.
In a personal letter distributed to voters in the district, as well as print ads in all of the Jewish weeklies over the past two weeks, Mr. Caller wrote, “This community needs to get their fair share from government. We need concrete plans on how to tackle the housing and jobs crises. We need a strong advocate for working people and low-income New Yorker to help them make ends meet.”
“As someone who is so passionate about our community, I feel it is my obligation to step forward and take on these difficult tasks,” he asserted.
In the letter, Mr. Caller noted, “For me, it’s not about money or personal prestige; it’s all about the community and the people for which I care so much.”
Mr. Caller, who is challenging Assemblyman Dov Hikind, pointed out that the past five years have proven that contested elections bear results. Since 2010, we have managed to pass several pieces of legislation that were viewed as an impossible task only a short while ago. “Simply put: it is the community that would benefit and be the ultimate winner of my run,” he said.
One of the plans that Mr. Caller has already announced is to provide 2000 housing units in the Borough Park so our children don’t have to move out of our community. (The Caller campaign is expected to release a detailed plan over the coming weeks)
Mr. Caller has already assembled a team of experts that will help him run a positive issue-oriented campaign that will focus on the needs of our community. Well-known Democratic consultant Hank Sheinkopf, who worked for former President Bill Clinton, joined the campaign as a strategic advisor and media consultant.
In addition to Mr. Sheinkopf, Mr. Caller has hired a well-known Republican consultant, E. O’Brien Murray, as campaign manager. O’Brien “OB” Murray orchestrated State Senator Simcha Felder’s campaign in the 17th Senate District in 2012 and ran the successful congressional run of former Congressman Bob Turner in a special election in September of 2011. Turner won in particular by motivating the Orthodox Jewish vote in parts of Borough Park and Midwood.
“Over the past few years, I have dedicated my time giving back to the community, helping the needy and embarking on missions that were never undertaken by a large measure. For Example: Single-handedly leading the fight against the gambling casinos in the Catskills and handing out ‘Kupas HaChesed’ vouchers for low-income families,” Mr. Caller said. “The time has come to take it to the next level. I believe that I am uniquely qualified to serve as a voice and a representative of the community in Albany, to ease the burden of the working class and bring honor and prosperity to our communities.
Mr. Caller is running on the Republican line, as well as a newly created “Jobs and Housing” party line.

Look who he built housing for in Williamsburg; the hipsters, all to make money. He knows every trick in the book.

Uh and why is that?
I know nothing about this man, but building 2000 units of housing in densly overcrowded Boro Park is simply preposterous. The streets, the sewers, the utitlities are already over utilized. The 2000 units of housing would add a minimum of 10,000 people, additional cars, and tons of garbage weekly. He should focus instead on building housing for his potential constituents elswhere.
I live in the district and I talked with a lot of ppl who won’t support him
But im sure YWN will talk about him and support him because Jakob kornbluh hates dov hikind and is probably hired under the table by nachman kaller
Moderators Note: Dear [email protected], for the record, Jacob Kornbluh is not an employee of YWN. Wishing you a Gmar Chasima Tova.
What are the plans for having a NYS kosher enforcement bureau again?
