Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Sunday 4 Tishrei 5775 left Israel for the United States where he will be addressing the UN General Assembly. As he was departing from Tel Aviv the prime minister told the media “In my address to the UN General Assembly, I will refute all of the lies being directed at us and I will tell the truth about our state and about the heroic soldiers of the IDF, the most moral army in the world.”
The prime minister was referring to the anti-Israel propaganda campaign that gained momentum as a result of Operation Defense Edge. He was also making reference to PA leader Abu Mazen’s venomous address to the UN forum on Friday in which he accused Israel of a “genocide” against his people.
His remarks also elicited harsh comments from the US, including State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki who stated “President Abbas’s speech today included offensive characterizations that were deeply disappointing and which we reject. Such provocative statements are counterproductive and undermine efforts to create a positive atmosphere and restore trust between the parties.”
