A new poll shows Democrat Andrew Cuomo continues to hold a big lead over Republican challenger Rob Astorino in New York’s governor’s race
Fifty-four percent of likely voters in the survey support Cuomo’s re-election bid. Twenty-nine percent favor Astorino, the Westchester County executive, and nine percent back Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins.
The poll also found that Cuomo’s approval rating is 42 percent among registered voters, down from 47 the month before and matching his lowest rating since taking office.
The survey released Wednesday was conducted by Marist College in partnership with The Wall Street Journal and NBC 4 New York. The poll of 958 registered voters was conducted last Wednesday through Sunday. Among 517 respondents identified as likely voters, the margin of error was 4.3 percentage points.
