As 5774 comes to an end, Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics released information pertaining to Israeli society. According to the data released, Bat Yam is listed as the oldest city and Bnei Brak the youngest. The Torah city recently celebrated its 90th birthday.
Regarding Jerusalem, 87% of residents work in their city of residence but in Gush Dan only 41% can make the same claim.
In Ramat Gan and Tel Aviv, residents on the average earn the highest salaries in Israel but the residents are not satisfied with their earnings — unlike Bnei Brak, Jerusalem and Beersheva where residents on the average are for more satisfied with their income despite earning considerably less.
The city with the lowest earnings is Bnei Brak, yet satisfaction among residents ranks among the highest nationwide. In Yerushalayim, 28% of residents felt they were poor in the past year, including 18% Jews and 45% Arabs. In Tel Aviv/Yaffo, Haifa, Netanya and Rishon L’Tzion, less than 10% of residents felt poor.
In Bat Yam, residents expressed fear walking around in the dark of night while in Yerushalayim, despite the growing number of attacks by Arabs, the capital ranks fourth among cities in which residents are unafraid.
